See! I can flip over already!

Isaac is beginning to flip over already! Luckily it's only one side now, ie, from his left side so it's still manageable. We will have to watch over him more carefully when he is able to flip on both sides, which is soon i think!

Isaac and his ooohhhssss & aaahhhhssss...

I think i can expect remarks such as "Isaac is talkative in class" when he goes to school in future.

A year of gratitude and joy

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who remembered my birthday last Thursday and for your well-wishes! Much appreciated!

Well, this year's birthday is memorable, coz i am now a mummy! I still remember same time last year, i had my pregnancy confirmed on my birthday! The past year has been a year of joy, as well as its fair share of ups and downs, but i am grateful for every moment of it. From having to be hospitalised coz i was spotting to the eventual birth of Isaac, 2008 has marked a new chapter of my life. Now, shopping trips have to be planned, bath times have to be timed (after breastfeeding), meal times are a rush, travel plans have to be put on hold and most importantly, restful sleep is a rare commodity! But i'm not complaining coz we finally have little precious Isaac after years of waiting.

Chee Meng brought me out on a dinner date to Da Paolo Bistro Bar at Rochester Park, which is a stone's throw away from my parents' place where i am now a permanent resident. He kept the location a surprise but i kinda knew it would be somewhere along Rochester Park as i had not been there before and it's near my parents' place which meant that we could zip back quickly if necessary. Mum helped to look after Isaac while we sneaked out. It was a nice, dark (romantic!) place and perfect for our precious couple-time. And for once, i left Isaac out of my radar for 2 hours so that i can relax a little. It has been quite stressful lately looking after the little fella, whose body clock has been timed to kick up a fuss at about 10 plus at night before he goes to bed. And as my mum says, he looks for me/my smell at night (read: no overseas trips for now!!).

However, much as i dread night times, he is quite fun to play with these days. He's getting quite talkative and noisy, with his ooohhhs and aahhhss. He giggles when you tickle him and somehow seem to sing along when i sing to him. He's such a joy, that is, when he is not cranky! He's 4 months+ now and still wakes up at least once at night for milk (read: interrupted sleep!).

And by the way, did i update all that Isaac weighs 8.3kg and is 67.5cm long at 4 months? Dr Ngiam said that the average weight for a 1 year-old is 9.5kg, and that since Isaac is growing up so quickly, he will slow down in his growth eventually and we should not be alarmed. Well, for me, it just means that he will help me tone up my biceps!

Here are some recent pics of the three of us!

Will try to upload a video of Isaac doing his ooohhhhss and aaahhhhsss soon!

Isaac is 4 months' old and a botak head!

Time flies! Isaac is 4 months old now! And to commemorate the occasion, i decided to bring Isaac for a haircut... ie... botak haircut! Chee Meng thought i was just saying that i'll cut him a botak head when he reach 4 months and didn't think that i would really do so. So after his haircut, i sent his daddy a picture of his botak head. Almost immediately Chee Meng called to lament that i really did that to his son and an hour later and during his lunchtime, dropped by to see his precious son. Chee Meng was a bit shocked at the hairless state of things but soon joined us in calling Isaac 'botak head'.

Well, the key reason why i wanted to shave Isaac's head is because his hair is falling and i can see little patches here and there. I rather we start with a clean skinhead so that his hair can grow evenly. And besides, Isaac does not have a head full of hair which would of course make the botakness even more apparent. As my dad says, it doesn't make much difference whether Isaac is botak or not:)

So on 7 Jan, which is his 4th month according to the lunar calendar, an army of 3 comprising my dad, my mum and me trotted down to the hair salon for the 'shave of the century'. And boy, it wasn't an easy shave. Isaac was wriggling and moving every second and the hairdresser had to be very very careful lest he hurt him and his scalp. Part 1 - I held Isaac, while my mum and dad distracted him. Part 2 - My mum held Isaac, my dad offered his finger for Isaac to suckle and i was on standby to prevent hair from falling onto his face. And at the end of the entire session, my dad's finger and shirt were full of Isaac's saliva, while my mum and I had hair all over us. Isaac was also getting a little impatient and clearly in need of a bath, which he got one the moment we reached home. I will post pictures of the little botak when i get home to my laptop tonight. He actually looks quite cute in his new haircut!

Isaac also went for his second round of jabs last week. And for once, my heart cried when Dr Ngiam administered the second shot, which is more biting. Aiyoh, he burst out in tears when the needle went in. So poor thing. And again, Chee Meng did not bear to witness the jabbing process but told me that he felt like crying when he saw his son in tears. Awwwww....

We went back to see Dr Ngiam again, as a form of follow-up as he did the first round of jabs for Isaac. The good thing about Dr Ngiam is that his appointments are usually on time which meant that we did not have to spend much time waiting around for our turn. Everything is settled within half an hour. There's another round of jabs for Isaac in 6 weeks' time and i've already made appointments with Dr Ngiam for it. Let's see if we want to switch to Dr Ngiam or return to Dr YY Yip after the jabs are completed.

Let's see:)

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year everyone! Sending you all our best wishes for 2009!

Isaac will be 4 months' old in a week's time. Time flies... It was just about this time last year, on my birthday actually, that i confirmed my pregnancy and now the little fella's 4 months old already! Sorry, i don't have much photos to upload coz my laptop's at home (and i only go home on weekends) and all my uploading software is in that laptop. Will try to put some up when i have the time.

It has been almost a month since i last blogged about Isaac and his developments. He is quite fun to play with now, and screams quite loudly at times! In the last one month, we've seen how his motor skills have improved (from grabbing his pacifier to pinching us!) and how he becoming more and more playful. He likes us to talk to him, play with him, tickle him and he reciprocates by giggling at times. He's really cute when he's in the mood to play. But, he is really a terror (erm, he's born on 9-11 lor) when he gets impatient and angry especially when he's hungry and milk is slower than he expected it.

I'm lucky to be staying at my mum's place coz we can bring him down to the market everyday for him to explore the environment and see new faces, which is helpful when he is at this age of recognising people. He loves seeing trees, especially moving leaves, and he is just so curious and amazed at them. As for new faces, he looks at them like a scanner, doesn't bat an eyelid and at times, may even threaten to cry. But he will smile when either my mum or myself talks to him. And it is evident that he enjoys going out... he gets excited when we put him in his stroller or when i carry him in the babybjorn carrier! Maybe he inherited it from us coz we are practically out shopping when we have the time! And we have been bringing him shopping ever since he was a month old!

Well, we will have to bring him to the doctor's for jabs again next week! Let's hope he will be better this time round (he had a slight fever after the jab)!
